Friday's Feast

Appetizer:
How many times per day do you usually laugh? Not nearly enough!
Soup:
What do your sunglasses look like? I don't normally wear sunglasses because my regular glasses get darker in the sun. I do wear a cheap pair of JLo looking sunglasses when I wear my contacts. However, I mostly wear the contacts on the rare occasion that I go out at night. So no need for sunglasses.
Salad:
You win a free trip to anywhere on your continent, but you have to travel by train. Where do you go? Oregon or Maine
Main Course:
Name one thing you consider a great quality about living in your town/city. It's small, for the time being.
Dessert:
If the sky could be another color, what color do you think would look best? I like the sky at sunrise and sunset when it's shades of pink & purple.

Pair #4 for January!

Ta-da! Here they are! Pair #4 for January...the Jaywalkers are officially off the needles and on my feet. I started these on 18 Jan and finished on 23 Jan. I was planning on taking a break from sock knitting for the rest of January but I decided to try and crank out another pair before month end. I'm using Louet Gems in a solid color that I had in my stash and a pattern from More Sensational Knitted Socks. It's the first time I have done a pattern from this book. I'll post some progress pic's later! If I finish these before the end of January that will make 5 pairs in one month! All from my stash! woo-hoo

I've changed my mind...

at least what little bit of it that I haven't lost. Anyway...the Sock It To Me! Colori yarn was not working with the Jaywalker pattern. And I really want to do the Jaywalkers...so I put it back in the que and picked this. Lorna's Laces Shepherd Sock in the Knit Happens colorway. I bought this yarn a couple of years ago. It was dyed for my LYS Knit Happens in Alexandria VA. If you're ever in the DC area stop by their shop in Old Town. Lots of cool stuff. I think this yarn is working much better.

Friday's Feast

Appetizer:
What is your favorite beverage? Diet Pepsi with Lime. Although it's getting increasingly hard to find around here.
Soup:
Name 3 things that are on your computer desk at home or work. A small lamp, an air freshner, a couple of books.
Salad:
On a scale of 1-10 (with 10 being highest), how honest do you think you are? 8
Main Course:
If you could change the name of one city in the world, what would you rename it and why? I have no clue.
Dessert:
What stresses you out? What calms you down? Work & worrying about my son stresses me out. Knitting calms me down.

I am on a roll!

Here is my 3rd pair of socks for January! Yes, you read correctly, 3rd. These are Not So Plain Jane socks from STWC. I used Tofutsies #725 that was in my stash and #1 dpn's. I started these on 12 Jan and finished this morning. And...drumroll please...here is the next stash yarn to be picked. It's Sock It To Me! Collection Colori. I bought this a few years ago from Ebay. These 2 skeins are destined to be Jaywalkers & my 4th pair of socks for the month.

2nd pair done!

Here's my 2nd pair of socks for the year! They are for my SITM Twice pal. I used 2 skeins of Koigu #P837D that was in my stash and the Broadripple pattern from Knitty.com. I started these on 6 Jan and finished on 11 Jan.
And here is the lucky skein from my stash to be used next...#23. It's Tofutsies. I think I'm going to use the Not So Plain Jane free pattern from SWTC. I'll post progress pics later.

In Memory of Joe

Today's post is in memory of my nephew, Joe. We miss you!

THE BROKEN CHAIN
We little knew that morning that God was going to all your name,
In life we loved you dearly, in death we do the same.
It broke our hearts to lose you, you did not go alone,
For part of us went with you, the day God called you home.
You left us peaceful memories, your love is still our guide,
And though we cannot see you, you are always at our side.
Our family chain is broken, and nothing seems the same,
But as God calls us one by one, the chain will link again.

SITM Twice Contest

Five things I would like to accomplish in 2008:
1. I would like to be less of a worrier.
2. I want to do more charity knitting.
3. I want to learn how to knit socks from the toe up.
4. I want to learn intarsia knitting.
5. I want to use as much of my stash yarn as possible.

There, that wasn't so bad. Hopefully I will be able to stick with it. So far the only one that I have accomplished is #5. But it is only 7 days into the year.

January socks off the needles & SITM Twice Yarn

Here are my January Winter Sky Footies. I used Lorna's Lace's Shepherd Sock in the Jeans colorway, #2 dpn's and my own pattern. I started these on Jan 1 and finished on Jan 4.
Here is the yarn I picked out for my SITM Twice pals socks. I'll be using Koigu KPPM and the Broadripple pattern. The yarn is from my stash so technically these can be included in the Socks from Stash KAL.

1st Fridays Feast of 2008

Here's the questions from fridaysfeast.com. Check the website out. It's pretty cool. I'm really going to try to post these every Friday. It's interesting to look back at your answers later.
Appetizer:
When was the last time you received a surprise in the mail, and what was it? My last surprise was a package from my Xmas Around the World Swap Pal. (see earlier post)
Soup:
If you could have a summer and/or winter home, where would you want it to be? I used to want a home near the beach...but in the last few years I've been leaning toward the mountains. Shenandoah to be exact.
Salad:
Pick one: pineapple, orange, banana, apple, cherry. Cherry
Main Course:
Describe the nicest piece of clothing that you own. I couple of dresses that I wore in weddings.
Dessert:
If you could forget one whole day from your life, which day would you choose to wipe from your memory? Not sure about this one. Probably the day my son was hit by a car. He was 5 then. Luckily the only injury was a broken leg. But it was right in front of my house and even though I didn't see it happen I can still hear him scream...15 years later it still wakes me up sometimes. I think I have post traumatic stress disorder. Self diagnosed, of course.
